The Huntsville, AL real estate market has largely avoided the nationwide downturn in real estate prices.  In fact average home values in Huntsville continue to increase!  The Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) is resulting in more positions and families moving to Huntsville from other parts of the nation, in addition to the BRAC moves, military contractors will be adding support positions to those jobs, furthering even more people who will soon be calling Huntsville home! 

 

Huntsville home prices remain highly affordable when compared to other areas of the country. Purchasers get more bang for the buck and that is also appealing to people selling smaller homes in states such as California, only to buy a larger home with acreage for a lot less in Huntsville.  Low property taxes also are highly appealing, in some northern states people are paying over $10,000 a year in property tax alone, only to find they can buy a similar sized house and pay significantly less in Huntsville.

 

The housing market in Huntsville has increased inventory in 2008 when compared to 2007 and that just makes it a “buyers” market.  Now is the time to pick and choose the house of your dreams or find a good deal on investment property before the BRAC move begins to swing into full force!

Huntsville best place to live!

According to a recent article in Forbes Magazine, it ranks Madison County as the top county in the nation to live!  The magazine primarily stated it was due to the affordability of housing and low property taxes that contributed to the #1 ranking!  Madison County came in third for lowest property taxes in the nation with an average property tax bill of $577!  In addition to the real estate affordability, the magazine cited the diversity of Huntsville’s economy with a lower unemployment rate than the national average,  and small commute as other positive factors!
